Sun Protection Clothes Save Your Skin

You can find surprisingly fashionable and comfortable clothing that will block most of the ultraviolet light from the sun. Sun protection clothes have an SPF rating provided by an independent laboratory or a government organization, and they're made of cloth that is woven especially to protect your skin from the sun.

Depending on where you go, you can find shirts, swimwear, a suit, and even items for athletes that resist sweat - and you can often find them at a discount. Women's wear includes long-sleeved sundresses, shirt and shorts sets, and even swim wear. These fabrics work by using a tight weave, often with SPF protective factors woven right into the fabric itself. It's not the same as regular cotton or polyester at all.

One problem you might find with these clothes is breathability. This is because they are designed to keep your skin blocked from the sun. For this reason, you should purchase a size larger than you might normally buy, so that air can filter in to cool your skin.

Prior to getting an SPF rating, these clothes undergo rigorous testing. Most countries, including Australia and the US, require the fabric to undergo forty simulated launderings, be exposed to the equivalent of two years of sunlight, and if the cloth is for swimsuits, exposed to chlorinated water. Only then is the SPF factor measured.

If you choose to use sun protection wear for your summer outings, take good care of it. Frequent washing and drying can stretch out the weave, or even wash away some of the UV-protective chemicals.
