Cheap Tanning Bed Bulbs: Worth The Money?

When it comes to owning a tanning bed in your home, or having a number of tanning beds in a tanning salon, purchasing replacement bulbs can be a significant expense. The quality of the tan depends on the quality and intensity of the bulbs in the tanning bed, so the cost of replacement is a necessary one, and when you find cheap tanning bulbs, you may be finding a genuine good bargain, or you may be buying frustration and disappointment.

You may find the ultraviolet bulbs on a discount website, from a wholesale dealer, or your timing may be terrific and you may hit an end of season sale or an overstock sale where you get a great bargain and find high quality replacement lamps at the cheapest price imaginable. On the other hand, you may find some relatively inexpensive bulbs and try them, only to find their performance is poor.

The average life of a tanning bulb is 800 to 1000 hours, and many people in the industry believe the quality of the tan they give is best in the first 200 hours of use. If you buy the cheapest bulbs and they only last 600 hours, you probably haven't saved yourself any money, because you will have to buy more replacement bulbs sooner than you planned. And the bargain bulbs may not be delivering the high quality tan you want for yourself and/or your customers.

If you're looking for a good quality tan, you should consider changing your tanning bed lamps frequently. Savvy customers sometimes ask their salon managers how often the bulbs are changed. All the bulbs in a bed should be changed at the same time so the overall quality of the tan that particular bed gives remains consistent. In a bed where bulbs are changed randomly as they go out, the user will get an uneven tan.
