Tanning Beds: Breast Shrinkage Concerns
It seems like every day, a new myth is rearing its head. The newest myth concerns tanning beds. Breast shrinkage is caused by using a tanning bed. Fortunately, that is all it is - a myth - something you can dismiss and move on with your life.
There is no valid medical evidence that tanning bed usage has any real affect on the size of a woman's breasts any more than tanning outside would. The same rays that allow you to tan outside also allow you to tan in a salon. These rays, UAV and UAB, can cause other problems, but only with overexposure. These problems include cancer, burning, and skin dryness. The best way to avoid these problems is to monitor your exposure and follow the salon and federal, state, and local regulations. This normally means tanning indoors for no more than 20 minutes a day, every other day.
Additional dangers face unprotected eyes during tanning sessions. The danger of eye damage can be avoided by wearing safety goggles that have been specially designed for tanning bed usage. If you are concerned about uneven tanning due to wearing goggles, adjust the angle of the goggles periodically, but do not take them off. The bright lights of a tanning bed can quickly cause eye damage.
Without any real medical evidence to the contrary, the myth that tanning beds cause breast shrinkage should be filed away under fiction, while you turn your attention to taking proper precautions to protect yourself from real tanning bed usage concerns.
