Tanning Beds Here

High pressure tanning beds are a speedy way to a golden glow.

High pressure tanning beds are the quickest way to get a dark tan, meaning fewer sessions for shorter amounts of time per session. The lamps in the beds produce UVB and UVA in different ways than in traditional models, which allow the quicker results. The tanning bulbs are pointed at the body to stimulate melanin production in the skin. The melanin is then oxidized, which is what produces a darker color. This type of tanning helps fair skinned people, who would normally burn, an option to get some color without burning. These beds have give off lower UVB rays, which doesn't dry your skin like a traditional bed or the sun outside. This means the skin doesn't exfoliate as much, which means the tan lasts longer than it would regularly.

A benefit of these beds is that they filter out most of the UVB light, while still letting enough UVA light through to provide a great tan. On the other hand, low-pressure beds have the same proportion of UVA and UVB rays, which means that more UVB rays get through providing more of an opportunity to burn. Every time you get burned, you increase your chance of skin problems and skin cancer. UVA rays are not harmless, however, and your exposure should still be cautious and calculated.

Tanning beds are not all created equal. It's important to talk to staff at your salon about which is best for you and your skin type. Once you've decided which is best, you can tan your way to a great golden glow.
